As a child, Augustine Garcia was always looking up! Whether it was at birds, kites, clouds, airplanes, satellites or stars, his eyes were on the skies. Growing up with parents involved in working on the Apollo mission, he had an advantage. Even after my father's passing while he and his sister were young, their strong mother pushed her family forward, challenging them to become educated and be good citizens. To achieve the goal his mother set, Augustine spent four years in the US Navy, traveling and learning technology. After that, he lived in Hawaii for 10 years, getting to know himself as an adult. He received an AA from Honolulu Community College and a BA and a state Teaching Credential from California Lutheran University. For the past 20+ years, he has been privileged to be employed by the Rio School District in Oxnard.
