Dave Eberle’s keen interest in astronomy ignited as a boy during the Apollo program, especially that special night in July, 1969 when Neil Armstrong stepped foot onto the lunar surface! The Carl Sagan program, Cosmos, launched Dave’s focus on science in college. Dave’s strong curiosity in the natural world continues today. He is very active as a science educator and citizen-scientist. Dave is enthralled with visual astronomy of the planets and stars. As a National Board Certified Teacher for the Clarkston School District, Dave enthusiastically integrates science and engineering into nearly every school day. He has served as the President of the Lewis and Clark Chapter of the Idaho Master Naturalist Program. Dave continues to enjoy learning more about the natural world and performing community service. Dave is a retired Lieutenant Colonel for the US Army Corps of Engineers, serving in construction, topographic, and combat engineering units both overseas and state-side. Also, as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Liberia, West Africa, Dave trained teachers and administrators in a nation-wide literacy program, where he lived in a remote rainforest village and rode a motorcycle about 500 miles a week to supervise over 8 schools.
