Kathleen Blackett has always had a fascination with space. As a child, she could quote particular facts about the solar system, such as the distance to the sun or the distance to the moon (93 million miles and about a quarter million miles, respectively). Kathy earned a B.S. in Physics from the University of Michigan-Dearborn, and later earned a Ph.D. from the University of Tennessee in Experimental Particle Physics. Kathy has worked as a systems engineer and as a full time mom. Kathy currently teaches introductory physics at the University of South Florida - St. Petersburg and at St. Petersburg College.
