Ralph Treder avidly read science fiction as a youngster. Science generally and space exploration in particular were an early passion for him. An excellent high school physics teacher spurred his interest in science and space exploration, leading him toward a physics career. He gained a lasting impression too of the value in experiencing excellent teaching and it prompted him to someday pay it forward, to make such lasting impressions himself. He hopes to transfer his fascination and appreciation for discovery in science and space to future generations. And he uses Einstein's famous dictum, "Everything should be made as simple as possible, but not simpler", as a guide to doing it well. His laboratory career provided opportunities for presentations to professionals and non-career contributions included service as a judge at science fairs and providing Young Eagles [ages 8 - 17] with first instructional flights. In retirement, he's taught college, high school, and inner city charter school students, as well as students preparing for the SAT exam. His goal is to nurture an appreciation for all the wonder and joy derived by actively working in science and space exploration fields. Ralph holds a B.S. in physics, M.S. in physics [thesis in cosmology], and Ph.D. in physics [thesis in solid state physics].
