Linda McKenna
Linda McKenna received a BS in Medical Technology from Bloomsburg University (PA) in 1977 and a Masters of Secondary Science Education Degree from East Stroudsburg University (PA) in 2006. She has worked in several scientific fields, all of which she has approached with great care and passion. She began her career working in clinical laboratories for 20 years. She was Senior Medical Technologist at Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania Blood Bank and subsequently attained her Specialist in Blood Bank degree and became the Blood Bank Supervisor for the Reading Hospital and Medical Center. Linda changed career paths and entered the teaching field where she was employed by the East Stroudsburg School District as an eighth grade Earth and Space Science teacher. She served as Science Department Chairperson and Developer and Chairperson of the East Stroudsburg School District Outdoor Classroom during her tenure. Linda received the East Stroudsburg University's Sigma Xi award for Excellence in Science Teaching in 2012. Lindas passion and enthusiasm for science continued to grow as she became exposed to new areas during the course of her careers. She was surprised how her clinical biologic knowledge so easily carried over to all branches of science. While teaching Earth and Space science, she became fascinated with geology and astronomy. Her role model is Miss Frizzle from the Magic School Bus. Since she could not physically whisk her students off on a scientific adventure, she attempted to take their minds on a fascinating intellectual journey. Her students affectionately refer to her as the Crazy Rock Lady.
