John O'Neal has been an avid amateur astronomer since 1976. He has observed and imaged 40 comets over the last 40 years. He is also an accomplished astrophotographer specializing in deep sky objects as well as solar and planetary imaging. He has a long history of public outreach and has brought his telescopes and love of astronomy to many boy & girl scouts and school children. More recently he has co-founded a social media group, along with another NASA Solar System Ambassador, which promotes solar astronomy outreach and imaging on a world wide scale.
