Betty Jo Moore
Betty Jo Moore made the switch to teaching after an almost 20-year career in the corporate world. Currently she teaches 6th grade science and ELA at a STEAM magnet middle school. The STEAM theme offers the opportunity to bring her love of the Arts into the classroom on a regular basis. Betty Jo is a lifelong learner and loves seeking out opportunities for learning and for ideas to bring back to the classroom. During the last 5 summers, she has participated in summer professional development for teachers including NASA LiftOff2016 She is certified by NASA to borrow the lunar and meteorite samples from the NASA Archives. Betty Jo serves on many committees at school and has served as the Teacher Leader for Technology Integration for the last 4 years. As part of this role, she facilitates technology learning/training sessions for other teachers. She is the Robotics Coach, a coach for Science Olympiad and the advisor for the Programming Club. When not in the classroom, she enjoys music and plays the string bass with the Winston-Salem Civic Orchestra. Her hobbies include travel, scrapbooking, hiking, gardening and reading. Betty Jo obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in Management Information Systems from Winston-Salem State University.
