David Amidon
David Amidon is a National Board Certified Teacher based in Syracuse, NY. He earned his BA in Biology from SUNY Geneseo and MSEd from SUNY Oswego. In the classroom for 24 years, Mr. Amidon teaches 7th and 8th grade science at the Onondaga Nation School. He has been active as a leader in the school community including coaching multiple sports, advising the Science Olympiad and National Junior Honor Society. Mr. Amidon was selected for the New York State Master Teacher Program in 2013 and has participated with other teachers from around the world in educator space academy programs. David is a NOAA Teacher @ Sea alumni, earned the Certified American Meteorological Society (AMS) Teacher designation, and is a Teacher Ambassador for the National Center for Science Education. He has presented at the Science Teachers Association of NY State (STANYS) Conference, AMS Annual Meeting, and the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS). Among his honors, David received the Empire State Excellence in Teaching Award, earned the Outstanding Earth Science Teacher Award for the Eastern Region of the National Association of Geoscience Teachers, and is a 2 time recipient of the Presidential Innovation Award for Environmental Education sponsored by the Environmental Protection Agency and the White House’s Council on Environmental Quality.
