Solar System Ambassadors
Theo Wellington
Theo began a lifelong interest in astronomy with the space age on TV. A small telescope became her window to the universe under the dark skies of the time. Fascinated with the idea that so much information was coming to us on the tiny beams of light, she graduated from Case Western Reserve University with a BS degree in astronomy. Sending four children through public schools has made Theo passionate about the need for good science education. She has been an assistant Science Olympiad coach for 12 years. She joined the Barnard-Seyfert Astronomical Society in 2003, became involved in public outreach and how much fun it is to share the universe with everyone! She worked full time at the Sudekum Planetarium from 2005 through 2016 and part time at Western Kentucky University in 2017 coordinating Eclipse 2017 events for Kentucky K-12 students. She also enjoys gardening, photography and running. Theo is still amazed at how much information we receive from our telescopes and spacecraft.
