Solar System Ambassadors
Marc Stowbridge
Marc Stowbridge lives in central New Hampshire and is a retired family therapist. He has always enjoyed science and teaching, having started college as science education major before changing to psychology. Astronomy has been an interest ever since childhood, when he watched the first satellites crossing the sky. Since joining the New Hampshire Astronomical Society (NHAS) in 1999, he has participated in many sky watches, was Chair of the Outreach Committee for several years, and was club president for 2 years. Marc has a backyard observatory but most often uses his night time and solar scopes at sky watches and for sidewalk astronomy. Favorite venues for talks and observing are libraries and schools. Marc has taught semester length courses in astronomy at local private high schools and provides science enrichment programs for elementary schools in astronomy and mineralogy. He delights in finding useful methods to teach complicated concepts like the analemma. Marc also founded the Library Telescope Program which is now international.
