Solar System Ambassadors
Ardis Herrold
Ardis Herrold first fell in love with astronomy when she learned about constellations in third grade. She has been an amateur astronomer ever since, and taught high school and college astronomy and other sciences for 38 years. Ardis also has three decades of experience working in planetariums. She now works as the Senior Education Specialist for the NSF-DOE Vera C. Rubin Observatory, designing classroom investigations that connect teachers and students to the data that Rubin will provide once it becomes operational later this year. Ardis' involvement as a NASA volunteer began with the launch of Cassini to Saturn. As a Solar System Educator (now Solar System Ambassador), she worked extensively with the Mars exploration missions as well. She feels that the JPL solar system missions have universal appeal to people of all ages and are an excellent way to introduce STEM activities to children. SOLAR SYSTEM AMBASSADOR MASTER TEACHER
