Solar System Ambassadors
Ardis Herrold
Ardis Herrold first fell in love with astronomy when she learned about constellations in third grade. She has been an amateur astronomer ever since, and taught astronomy and other sciences for 38 years. Ardis also has three decades of experience working in planetariums. She now works as the Education Specialist for the Large Synoptic Survey Telescope (LSST), designing classroom investigations that will connect teachers and students to the data the LSST will provide once it becomes operational in a few years from now. Ardis' involvement as a NASA volunteer began with the launch of Cassini to Saturn. As a Solar System Educator (now Solar System Ambassador Master Teachers), she has worked extensively with the Stardust and Mars exploration missions as well. She feels that the JPL solar system missions have universal appeal to people of all ages and are an excellent way to introduce STEM activities to children. SOLAR SYSTEM AMBASSADOR MASTER TEACHER
