Susan Sakimoto
Dr. Susan Sakimoto graduated from Whitman College in Walla Walla, Washington with a degree in Geology (minors in Astronomy and Physics), and from Johns Hopkins University with a M.A. in Earth and Planetary Sciences (minor in mechanical engineering) and a PhD in Geophysics. She was a contractor, working at the NASA/Goddard Space Flight Center from 1995-2004 as a research scientist in planetary geophysics and Mars exploration. She has taught for the Johns Hopkins Master of Science in Education Program (for teachers), for the Civil Engineering and Geological Sciences department at The University of Notre Dame, for the Montessori Academy at Edison Lakes. She currently is an adjunct at The University at Buffalo, and a research Scientist through the Space Science Institute in Boulder, CO. Susan has conducted geology field work on several continents, and is an expert in remote sensing, planetary volcanoes and impact craters. She is an experienced model rocket hobbyist (low and high power). She also coaches model rocketry. Susan is a proficient public speaker and an enthusiastic presenter of NASA mission results.
