Community Quest
Welcome
to Community Quest! As a leader in extended learning programs,
you are in a unique position to make a positive difference
in the lives of children you work with everyday. Community
Quest is a resource that makes use of the excitement of NASA's
Genesis mission, and is packaged in a way that is especially
useful for extended learning programs. Each activity contains
a Leader Guide and a Write-On Sheet for your participants.
The Leader Guide contains a description of the activity, background
information for you, the K-5 standards addressed (science,
language arts, and history), and step-by-step procedures for
implementing the activity. The Write-On Sheet provides a place
for your participants to respond to what happens in the activity,
to record observations and data, and to answer questions.
The chart below describes the Community Quest activities:
Are you a Boy Scout or a Girl Scout? The Genesis mission
outreach team recognizes the importance of community organizations
in the education of children outside of school. Children of
outreach team members include an Eagle Scout, a Life Scout,
a Tenderfoot, a Webelos Scout, a Cub Scout, and a Senior Girl
Scout. Team members include an Assistant Scout Master and
a Life Member of Girl Scouts. Genesis is producing materials
for use in those programs. To show our respect for scouting
programs and to recognize these programs as influential community
youth organizations, the Genesis outreach Web site features
materials that promote learning and achievement for youth.
