STARDUST LAUNCH STATUS
Saturday, February 6, 1999
The launch of NASA's Stardust spacecraft from Cape
Canaveral, FL, has been tentatively rescheduled for Sunday,
February 7, at 4:04:15 p.m. Eastern Standard Time (EST).
On the first day of the launch window, Saturday, February
6, the launch was aborted about one minute before liftoff due to
a problem with telemetry data from a radar beacon on the Delta
launch vehicle used to track the rocket as it ascends.
Live coverage on NASA Television will begin at 2:30 p.m.
EST Sunday. A post-launch briefing is planned to be broadcast
on NASA Television at 6 p.m. Eastern.
Stardust will send a spacecraft flying through the cloud of
dust that surrounds the nucleus of a comet and, for the first
time ever, bring cometary material back to Earth.
NASA Television is broadcast on the satellite GE-2,
transponder 9C, C band, 85 degrees west longitude, frequency
3880.0 MHz, vertical polarization, audio monaural at 6.8 MHz.
