Ed was born and raised in New Orleans, receiving B.S in Mathematics from the University of New Orleans in 1966. But then he left his past, and his accent, behind and took the leap to Southern California, where he got a Masters in Applied Math at Caltech (1968). From there it was a short hop to JPL, where he has served as a software developer for over 37 years. During that time, Ed worked on both Navigation software and Mission Design software. He has supported many missions, including some Mariner flights, Pioneer Venus, Viking, Galileo, and Stardust. Most recently he has focused on low thrust trajectory optimization software and supported a variety of mission analysis tools, including the atmospheric entry program AEPL used by Stardust.

Ed has taken an active interest in extracurricular activities at JPL, including the running club, hiking club, softball, awards programs, and mentoring programs. He also teaches a calculus class at Pasadena City College.

Ed and his wife, Jean (an administrator in MGSS) live in North Glendale. They are beginning to research places to live after retirement. Who knows: Ed may end up back in the South. Texas? Georgia? Tennessee? Or maybe right here in good ole SoCal. Time will tell.
