Dr. Jochen Kissel received his Ph.D. from the
University of Heidelberg in 1971. As PI he has
flown time-of-flight mass-spectrometers for dust
particle analysis on all close encounter missions
to Comet P/Halley in 1986. From 1985 through 1990

electronics and data collection work. From 1986
through 1992 he directed the work for a time-of-flight
secondary ion mass-spectrometer CoMA for the US-German
Mission CRAF. He leads the design and development
of a large target area dust impact mass-spectrometer
for general application. Among other awards, Dr.
Kissel received the Yu.A. Gagarin 50 Years medal
