Dr. Lindsay P. Keller is a Space Scientist at the NASA Johnson Space Center. He received his B.S. and M.S. from North Dakota State University and completed his Ph.D. in Geology (1989) at Arizona State University. Keller joined NASA in 2000 and is the manager of the Electron Beam Analysis Laboratories and Infrared Spectroscopy Lab at JSC. He is a co-investigator on the NASA Discovery Mission Stardust. His research interests include the nature and origin of early solar system materials (comets) and interstellar dust, as well as the mineralogy of meteorites and the surface dust on the Moon. These materials are studied using high-resolution transmission electron microscopes to make mineralogical and chemical measurements at the atomic scale. For the Stardust mission, Keller is leading one of the preliminary examination teams that will measure the optical properties of the returned particles to learn about their mineralogy and the nature of the organic matter they contain.
