Ken Alderson is a self-educated amateur astronomer who serves as president of the award-winning Louisville Astronomical Society (LAS). During his presidency, the LAS won the 2013 Astronomy Magazine Out of This World award, developed a forty-acre astronomy center in southern Indiana and established an Urban Astronomy Center in a state park in Louisviile.
Ken serves on the advisory board of the Gheens Science Hall and Rauch Planetarium at the University of Louisville. He is a docent at the Parklands of Floyds Fork in Louisville where he serves as Park Astronomer. He loves to take astronomy to the streets and enjoys presenting public outreach programs.
