Joe Hilbe passed away on March 12, 2017. He loved statistics and astronomy and was a dedicated Solar System Ambassador. It was while listening to an SSA professional development telecon that he was inspired to found the International Astrostatistics Association (IAA), thereby combining two of his favorite passions. This page will remain here through the end of the year to honor his memory and contribution to the Solar System Ambassadors program and the field of astrostatistics.
Joseph Hilbe, Ph.D., is emeritus professor, University of Hawaii, and an adjunct professor at Arizona State University. Hilbe is a full member of the American Astronomical Society (AAS) and member of the AAS Division for Planetary Sciences. He is also President of the International Astrostatistics Association. Prof Hilbe gives talks on meteorites, discussing and showing lunar, Martian, and a variety of other meteorite examples. Other topics related to astronomy and cosmology are also discussed.
