Voyager Ultraviolet Spectrometer Observations

Observations of Jupiter by the Voyager 2 Ultraviolet Spectrometer began on 8 July and have been continuous except for gaps in downlink telemetry coverage. The wavelength range is approximately 50 to 170 nm. At this time we have examined data taken during the impacts of Shoemaker-Levy 9 fragments A, B, C, D, F, G, and H. We have not yet identified a statistically- significant signature from any of these fragments. More detailed analysis will follow, and Voyager observations will continue until 17 August.
