We are on the cusp of exploring what may be the best place in our solar system to look for life beyond Earth.
That place is Jupiter’s moon Europa.
Scientists think under the moon’s icy shell there is a global, saltwater ocean with twice the volume of Earth’s oceans combined. NASA’s Europa Clipper mission will launch in the 2020s and is set to answer specific questions about Europa’s ocean, ice shell, composition, and geology.
