Sarah VanDenbergh is part of NASA's Science Activation Program (SciAct). SciAct has projects and NASA teams across the U.S. that are helping learners of all ages do science!

What first sparked your interest in science, technology, engineering, and/or math?

It's hard to pinpoint my first moment of interest in STEM. For as long as I can remember I have had a strong desire to understand how things work, particularly around the human experience. It has lead to a lot of self study of social sciences, learning sciences, anatomy and neuroplasticity.

What Science Activation project(s) are you affiliated with?

Learning Ecosystems Northeast

We use NASA’s rich array of data assets to engage middle school learners in explorations of weather and climate, ecosystem change and stability, and the ways that human and natural systems intersect.

Tell us about your job. What do you do?

I'm the project manager for Learning Ecosystems Northeast, helping to facilitate communication and collaboration across project partners, educator communities, and stakeholders.

What's one piece of advice you would give to someone interested in learning more about science?

Science is for everyone and its only prerequisite is a curiosity to learn more about the world around you.

What are some fun facts about yourself?

I love to travel, hike, bike and skimboard.
