What first sparked your interest in science, technology, engineering, and/or math?

A portrait of Lori Rubino-Hare.

At a 5th grade summer camp we collected water samples at a local reservoir and examined the invertebrates to determine the health of the aquatic system. I thoroughly enjoyed learning outdoors and was fascinated by the creatures that were revealed under the microscope.

What Science Activation project(s) are you affiliated with?

Tell us about your job. What do you do?

I get to learn from and work alongside amazing educators and NASA subject matter experts across the country to co-design and facilitate meaningful learning experiences with a particular focus on making STEM relevant and accessible to all learners.

What's one piece of advice you would give to someone interested in learning more about science?

Remain curious! Find and apply for unique volunteer and internship opportunities. Seek the help of others. Ask a lot of questions, listen to and learn from the answers, and observe as much of the world as possible.
