Explorer 38 (RAE-A)
Date: 4 Jul 1968

Explorer 38, also known as RAE-A, logged several firsts:

  • First radio astronomy spacecraft.
  • Largest antenna erected in space, 460 meters tip-to-tip.

The Earth-orbiting spacecraft was launch on 4 July 1968.
