Europa Study 2012 Report

The March 2011 Planetary Science Decadal Survey recommended that NASA should immediately undertake an effort to find major cost reductions for the proposed Jupiter Europa Orbiter mission, with the goal of minimizing the size of the budget increase necessary to enable the mission. To that end, NASA Headquarters promptly enlisted a new Europa Science Definition Team and directed them to examine a set of reduced-scope options for exploring Europa. Independent cost and technical reviews were to be performed on all study results. This report details the study team's results and the evaluation by independent review.
