Lopes is a planetary scientist and author of several books on volcanism, both terrestrial and extraterrestrial. She is currently a scientist on the Cassini mission to Saturn and is studying the volcanism on Titan.

Hamilton is a planetary geologist who uses spectroscopy to study the mineralogy and volcanic histories of several planets, including Mars, Venus and Earth.

Mariek Schmidt
Schmidt has worked with the Mars rovers and with meteorites from Mars to study the volcanism on Mars. The volcanic activity and resulting acids has affected the chemistry of the rocks that the rovers have studied.
