Biography:
Louis Irwin is a neurobiologist and astrobiologist, recently retired from the University of Texas at El Paso. He is co-author of "Life in the Universe: Expectations and Constraints" (2nd edition, 2008) and of "Cosmic Biology: How Life Could Evolve on Other Worlds" (2010). In 2002, his students participated in the Mars Student Imaging Project at Arizona State University, through which they acquired an image of the equatorial highlands from the Mars Odyssey orbiter, which was presented at the international astrobiology conference in Madrid in 2003.
