Biography:
A veteran teacher, Deborah currently serves the Evansville-Vanderburgh School Corporation in Evansville, Indiana as a District Professional Development Coach and Science Specialist. She designs and implements professional development programs that model best practice for K-8 teaching/learning. In addition, she coordinates curriculum with community resources to increase student achievement. She is the Project Director for a federally funded Math Science Partnership professional development grant in collaboration with the University of Southern Indiana .
An advocate for systemic science education reform, she has been a presenter in local, state and national venues including NSTA (National Science Teachers Association) national conferences and LASER (Leadership and Science Education Reform) strategic planning institutes at the Smithsonian Institute in Washington, D.C. Deborah represents the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory as a Solar System Educator and Ambassador and was an education consultant to the NASA Office of Space Science at DePaul University in Chicago. At the state level, she was a contributing writer to the 2010 Revised Standards for Science and for Indiana’s Academic Standard Resource for Science. Deborah is an executive board member for the Science Education Foundation of Indiana (SEFI) and is a consultant and education advisor for numerous organizations in her community.
Deborah obtained Education Administration Licensure at Oakland City University, a Masters of Arts degree in Special Education at the University of Evansville and a Bachelor of Science degree in Education at Ball State University.
