Biography:
If Denise's students could pick three words to describe her, they would be passionate, peppy and dedicated. Passionate because Denise demonstrates her love of science every day in and out of class. Peppy because Denise genuinely seems to enjoy being around her students and involved in their day to day lives. Dedicated as she prioritizes her time to help her students to succeed, herself to grow, and other teachers to improve their practice.
In the 6 years that Denise has been teaching, she has participated in a long list of professional development projects including the Mount Rainier-Mount Fuji Sister Mountain Project, been a master teacher for Teachers on the Leading Edge and UNAVCO, served as a summer forest ranger through the Teacher-Ranger-Teacher program, given presentations at NSTA, WSTA and GSA teacher conferences and published activities for other projects such as My NASA Data. Most recently, Denise completed her National Board Certification in Science and awaits news of the results.
