Stardust Mission: #6-1 Technology for Studying Comets - Aerogel Clay Collector
Students will: tie experimental design into a real world context using aerogel from the STARDUST mission, design a device that captures a falling clay ball without changing it's characteristics, apply principles of the scientific process to evaluate an experimental design, conduct an experiment and verify the results, and present finding using written and oral communication. The characteristics of falling clay activity can be used in the early elementary grades.
