This week, you get a bonus view. Watch the waxing moon as it appears above Jupiter on Dec. 5 and to the left of Jupiter on Dec. 6.

Although they look close together, Jupiter is nearly 400 million miles from Earth while the moon is only 239,000 miles away.

Zoom in for Earth's view of the moon and Jupiter, or for a solar system perspective zoom out and view the orbits of the planets using the link on your right.
