STARDUST Status Report
25 May 2001
(Source: Jet Propulsion Laboratory)
The Stardust spacecraft continues to operate in excellent condition.
A project-wide workshop was held to review the entire Comet Wild 2 encounter plan, which was developed before launch, and to update this plan based upon the current understanding of the spacecraft, payload instruments, ground system, Deep Space Network and operations team actual flight performances. The participants included the Principal Investigator and most Co-Investigators, the Flight Team at Lockheed Martin Astronautics and the Management and Operations Team at JPL. Also included in the discussions were the testing and review of the updated encounter plan, including possibly using the Asteroid 5535 Annefrank close flyby opportunity.
