The Subcommittee On Space And Aeronautics and the Committee On Science, Space, And Technology held a hearing on Wednesday, 15 November 2011 to discuss: "Exploring Mars and Beyond: What's Next for U.S. Planetary Science?"
The purpose of the hearing was to receive testimony from NASA and the National Academies of Science on the prospects for future exploration of Mars and implications of the current fiscal crisis to the future of U.S. planetary science.
The witnesses were Dr. Jim Green (Planetary Science Division Director, Science Mission Directorate, National Aeronautics and Space Administration) and Dr. Steve Squyres (Chair, Committee on the Planetary Science Decadal Survey, National Academies of Science).
