The public is invited to the Kossiakoff Conference and Education Center at the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory, starting at 7:30 PM EDT on March 17, 2011.
The timeline for activities on March 17 is as follows:
- Guests are welcomed - 8:00 PM (overview by Dr R McNutt) to 8:45 PM
- Orbit insertion maneuver execution - 8:54 PM to 9:09 PM (ground-receipt time)
- Begin reconfiguration of spacecraft for normal operations and telemetry - 9:28 PM
- Official status announcement - 10:00 PM (nominally)
Note that times shown are in local time; the one-way light time to MESSENGER is roughly 9 minutes.
