Date: 2 Apr 1845

Reproduction of the first daguerrotype of the Sun. The original image was a little over 12 centimeters in diameter. According to the Paul Charbonneau of the National Science Foundation's High Altitude Observatory, this photo was made on April, 2 1845 by French physicists Louis Fizeau (1819-1896) and Lion Foucault (1819-1868).
