MAVEN

An artists concept of the Mars Atmosphere and Volatile Evolution Mission (MAVEN) mission. MAVEN will explore Mars' upper atmosphere, ionosphere and how it interacts with the Sun. The spacecraft will determine why Mars lost the denser surface atmosphere that once allowed it support the presence of liquid water on its surface.


The results will reveal more about the Red Planet's atmosphere, climate history and potential habitability.
