Venera's Venus
Date: 1 Mar 1982

Venera 13 lander images of the surface of Venus. The lander touched down at 7.5 S, 303 E, east of Phoebe Regio, on 1 March 1982. It survived on the surface for 2 hours and 7 minutes.


These pictures were taken from its two opposite-facing cameras. The bottom frame shows the lander testing arm. The surface is made up of flat, platy rocks and soil. Parts of the lander and semi-circular lens covers can be seen in both images.
