3D Moon
Date: 19 Jan 2011
Peter Rosén produced this stereographic image of the full Moon.
This stereographic image is to be viewed with red (left) and green or blue (right) glasses or filters. You might have to look at the picture for a little while (the difference in libration was quite big) so the eyes and the brain can adjust and bring it into 3D focus. Once it works, the effect is very strong: The Moon looks like a balloon with an incredible depth hanging halfway out of the screen like a hologram.
NOTE: This is not a NASA image and is copyrighted by Peter Rosén. You must contact the copyright holder for permission to use this image. It was originally posted on 26 January 2011 on the Lunar Photo of the Day site (The Moon is a Balloon).
