Goals: Heliophysics missions study the sun and its effect on the Earth and our solar system.

Accomplishments: A series of increasingly sophisticated spacecraft are constantly increasing our understanding of the sun -- from its nuclear core to the boundary between our solar system and interstellar space. Advances ranged from the core of the sun out into the corona, through the solar wind into the Earth's magnetosphere and down to the ionosphere and lower atmosphere, also contributing to understanding the environments of other solar system bodies.
