Bio: |
Mr. Klaasen serves as the Supervisor of the Imaging Science Group at the Jet Propulsion
Laboratory. He has been involved in the imaging experiments on many solar system exploration
missions including Mariner 10, Viking Orbiter, and the Galileo mission to Jupiter. His primary
responsibilities have included imaging system calibration, experiment planning, and mission
operations. He has published over 50 papers on the global properties of various planets,
satellites, and asteroids and on spacecraft imaging instruments and experiments and has been
awarded NASA's Exceptional Service and Exceptional Achievement medals. For Deep Impact,
Mr. Klaasen will coordinate all aspects of scientific mission planning and flight
operations. |
